What is A Domain Name?

A domain name is the core of your company's online identity. It is the address your customers will use to find information about your products and services on the web. Your domain name is yours entirely because once registered, no other party may use that identity online.

Domain Names always have 2 or more parts, separated by dots. The most common example of a Domain Name is www.yourdomainname.com.au



What is An Ftp Login?

For your website to be seen on the Internet it must be hosted by a company. Your Hosting Company will allocate a section of their Server for your website to be stored and accessed.

In order to be able to access the Server where your site is stored, we need to login with a Username and Password and this is where your Ftp Login details come into place. Without it we cannot upload your website any future changes you may require.



What is Delegation?

Refers to domain name delegation; and is the process of recording the primary and secondary server names where the domain name will be hosted. The information can come from the licensee or an ISP hosting the name on behalf of a licensee.

A domain name must be registered before delegation can take place. Delegation can be performed at any time during the licence period.



What is Re-Delegation?

Domain name Re-delegation is the process of changing Name Server information. These changes are required when a licensee changes Host / ISP ( Internet Service Provider ).

When this occurs, the Domain Name Authorities must be notified so they can change their records. This process is called "Re-delegation".



What is a Registry Key?

A password that provides the domain name registrant or authorised person access to registration and delegation details of the domain name.

Registry keys for com.au domain names are initially made up of the domain name followed by a vertical line | known as a ‘pipe character’. Here’s what a com.au registry key looks like:

Domain Name: yourdomainname.com.au
Registry Key yourdomainname.com.au|5423



What is a Reseller?

What is a Registrant?

The Registrant ( Primary registrant ) - is the company in which you applied for your Domain Name through.
